Men's Golf Captures Sixth NE10 Championship

Surprenant crowned individual medalist; sets NE10 Championship, SNHU record with a 65 in final round

When and Where: Oct. 9, 2025 – Candia, N.H. (Candia Woods Golf Links)
Score: Southern New Hampshire University – 871 (1st/7)

Sophomore Andrew Surprenant (Boscawen, N.H.) shot an NE10 Championship- and Penmen program-record 6-under 65 in the final round, as he and the defending champion Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team claimed NE10 titles at Candia Woods Golf Links on Thursday.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
  • Surprenant, who entered the day in first place by one stroke with a 2-under 140, ended up winning by eight shots with a 8-under 205.
  • Sophomore Sam Maurice (Auburn, N.H.) finished 10th with a 223 after shooting 5-over 76 in the final round.
  • Sophomore Stephen Ramos (Danville, N.H.) turned in a 77 and was 16th with a 227.
  • Senior Evan Rollins (Laconia, N.H.) carded a 79 and was seventh, overall, with a 7-over 220.
  • Senior Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) also penciled in a 79 and wound up 18th with a 229.
NOTES
  • SNHU, which was picked third in last week's Pre-Championship Poll, captured its sixth NE10 title, including second straight.
  • The Penmen repeat for the second time in their history (2001-02) and are the first back-to-back NE10 Champions since Assumption University in 2021-22.
  • Surprenant is the first Penmen to claim individual medalist honors at the NE10 Championship since Jeff Liss in the spring of 2021.
  • Surprenant's 65 in the final round is the best single-round score in NE10 Championship history. Seven golfers had been tied for the record with a 66, including four Penmen – Chris Rivard (2022), Jake Nutter (2014), Matt Paradis (2018) and Rollins (2023).
  • Surprenant also sets a new SNHU program record with the 65, besting a host of 66s.
  • Surprenant's 8-under also set a new record for 54 holes at the NE10 Championship, passing Assumption University's Sean Magarian, who shot 4-under at the 2023 Championship. It also matches Paradis' 36-hole record of 8-under from 2018.
  • SNHU's 871 was enough to get by runner-up Adelphi University (875) by four strokes.
  • Surprenant defeated Bentley University's Jack Kantowski (213) by eight shots – one shy of matching the NE10 Championship record for margin of victory.
  • Surprenant made his third eagle of the tournament, which is one less than the rest of the field combined (4). No other golfer had more than one.
  • Surprenant also led the field with 11 birdies.
  • The NE10 Championship was comprised of 42 golfers from seven different institutions.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Penmen are now off until the spring.
