Sophomore Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) carded a 3-over 73 Monday, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team tied for sixth following the first round of the Northeast-10 Championship, which it is hosting, at the Lake Sunapee Country Club.
Paradis is tied for eighth place, just three strokes behind the leader.
Juniors Sam Riemer (Canton, Mass.) and Joshua LaCasse (Bow, N.H.) both turned in 77s, while fellow junior Tyler Silver (Lebanon, N.H.) totaled a 78.
Sophomore Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.) did not factor in the first-round scoring with his 79.
Notes:
- Bentley University leads after day one with a 289, which is three strokes better than second-place Saint Anselm College.
- Bentley's Robert Falconer is pacing the individual field with an even-par 70. Teammate Cal Meyers, as well as Saint Anselm's Stephen Hunt, Tad Link and Alec Brunelle, are all one stroke back.
- The Penmen last won the NE10 title in 2015, while last season they missed a repeat by one shot.
- The Northeast-10 Championship is comprised of 50 student-athletes from 10 institutions.
