Junior Tyler Silver (Lebanon, N.H.) carded a 77 in the final round of the McDonough Cup on Tuesday, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team wrapped up its fall slate by placing 16th at the Rio Pinar Country Club.
Silver, who sat tied for 21st following a 76 and 74 over the initial 36 holes, finished tied for 33rd with a 227.
Sophomore Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) penciled in a 78 in the final round, after turning in a pair of 77s, for a three-day total of 232. Sophomore Drew Kane (Scarborough, Maine) also shot a 78, which was better than both his first-round 81 and second-round 84, as he tabulated a 243 for the tournament.
Junior Joshua LaCasse (Bow, N.H.) rounded out the Penmen scorers, after not factoring in the team scoring Monday with an 81 and 94, respectively, in the first and second round. LaCasse turned in an 83 for a total of 258 over the three rounds.
Junior Sam Riemer (Canton, Mass.), who was 9-over after going 76-77 in the first two rounds, did not factor in the scoring with his 84, wrapping up the tourney with a 237.
Sophomore Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.), playing as an individual, finished with a 237 after shooting an 84 Tuesday, to go along with his rounds of 77 and 76 from Monday.
Notes:
- Newberry College won the event with an 880, which was just two strokes better than runner-up Rollins College.
- Carson-Newman University's Jake Headrick earned individual medalist honors with a 5-under 211.
- The McDonough Cup was comprised of 102 student-athletes from 18 institutions.
