Sophomore Kylie Lorenzen (Holliston, Mass.) poured in a team-high 18 points, including 12 in the second half, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team fell to 19th-ranked Bentley University, 84-68, Wednesday evening at the Dana Center.

Lorenzen shot 9-for-14 from the field, while grabbing four rebounds, handing out three assists and making two steals. Senior Sara Ryan (Quincy, Mass.) joined Lorenzen in double figures with 15 points (6-9 FG, 3-5 3-FG), to go along with three assists.

Jen Gemma, who scored her 2,000th career point and grabbed her 1,000th career rebound in the contest, led the way for Bentley with 21 points. Macchi Smith added 20 for the Falcons.

A pair of 3-pointers from sophomore Brianna Camara (Fall River, Mass.) and junior Jennifer Shelp (Apalachin, N.Y.) helped Southern New Hampshire open up a 10-6 lead over the opening four-and-a-half minutes of the contest. After Bentley cut it to one, a long jumper from junior Catherine Stinson (Lynn, Mass.), who contributed seven points in the opening quarter, made it a 12-9 game with 5:05 remaining.

After a 7-2 spurt put the Falcons in front by two, Stinson knocked down a right-wing 3-pointer to leapfrog the Penmen back in front, 17-16, with 2:49 on the clock. Gemma scored the final five points over the frame, however, to give Bentley a 21-17 advantage heading to the second.

Bentley opened up the second quarter with an 11-2 burst that featured five points from Trevena Bennett and gave the Falcons a 32-19 advantage with 5:53 to play. With the margin still 13 over a minute later, a 3 from freshman Molly Terry (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and a 17-foot jumper from classmate Victoria Dean (Plymouth, Mass.) trimmed the SNHU deficit to 36-28 with 1:20 on the clock. Amy McConnell would connect on a triple 17 seconds later to close the scoring and send Bentley to the break with a 39-28 lead.

A 3-pointer from Ryan to begin the second half pulled the Penmen within eight, but a 10-4 stretch – with five points from Gemma and four from Cassie Smith – opened Bentley's largest lead to that point at 49-35 less than three minutes in.

Southern New Hampshire would close to within 10, but an 8-2 run from Bentley, powered by six points from Macchi Smith, would extend the lead to 57-41 with under two minutes left. The Falcons would later score the final three points of the stanza on free throws to carry a 62-43 advantage into the final frame.

The teams twice traded scores to open the fourth quarter before seven straight Bentley points handed the hosts their largest lead of the night at 73-47 with 6:12 to play. The Penmen responded with a 17-3 run that featured six points each from Lorenzen and Ryan to make it 79-64 with 1:41 left.

Stinson netted nine points (4-11 FG, 1-3 3-FG) and collected three rebounds, with Shelp tallying seven points (3-6 FG, 1-1 3-FG), four boards and a pair of assists. Terry chimed in with six points (2-7 FG, 2-6 3-FG) and two rebounds, while Dean also chipped in six points (3-8 FG) and two boards.
