Junior Miguel Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) and freshman Bas van Biezen (Sassenheim, Netherland) each won their singles match, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team was tripped up by the New York Institute of Technology, 7-2, Saturday at SPORTIME.
Marreiros was a 6-0, 6-4 winner against Jaime Salvador at No. 3 singles, while van Biezen earned a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Rares Ispas at No. 5 singles.
Notes:
-This marked the first loss of the season for the Penmen to a non-Division I institution.
-SNHU is ranked fourth in the Oracle/ITA East Regional Rankings, while NYIT is the top-ranked team.
