ATLANTA – The Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team held the No. 14 spot in the 2016-17 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll when the WBCA announced it Wednesday morning.
The Penmen, whose 3.602 grade-point average was tops in the Northeast-10 this season, are the only NE10 team in the Academic Top 25 and are the top-ranked squad of the two teams from the East Region. The University of the Sciences claimed the No. 17 spot with a 3.581 GPA.
Emporia State led NCAA Division II members with a 3.744 GPA.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II, and III; NAIA and junior/community college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2016-17 season is the 22nd in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
