Junior Sam Riemer (Canton, Mass.) and Joshua LaCasse (Bow, N.H.) each fired an even-par 72 Sunday, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team leads in first place following the opening round of the Franklin Pierce University Fall Invitational at Keene Country Club.
Riemer and LaCasse are tied for second place, overall – three strokes back of the lead.
Sophomore Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) is tied for fifth following his opening-round 74.
Senior Ben Scott (Lexington, Mass.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with an 80 in the first round.
Notes:
- Sophomore Ryan Anderson (Beverly, Mass.) did not factor into the scoring and carded an 83.
- Playing as an individual, junior Tyler Silver (Lebanon, N.H.) tied for seventh with an opening-round 75.
- Riemer and LaCasse tied for the most birdies in the first round with five each.
- The Penmen are three shots ahead of St. Thomas Aquinas College, which is in second place.
- St. Thomas Aquinas' Michael Miranda leads the individual pack after registering a 3-under 69.
- The FPU Fall Invitational is comprised of 60 student-athletes from 10 institutions.
