Senior Tyler McLaren (Pepperell, Mass.) claimed his second consecutive individual title Saturday, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's cross country team won the fifth annual Bruce Kirsch Cup at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds.
McLaren blew away the field in a time of 25:16.0, topping former teammate Nacho Hernando-Angulo, running unattached, by more than 37 seconds.
Southern New Hampshire then filled out the rest of the top five. Sophomore Michael Moreno (Houston, Texas) finished third, as he completed the course in a time of 26:40.6, while freshmen Micah Hewiston (New Market, Md.) and Cedric Jocelyn (Nyack, N.Y.) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, with times of 26:44.4 and 26:47.1.
Junior Chris Burrill (Exeter, N.H.) capped the Penmen scorers with a 17th-place finish, traversing the 8K terrain in a time of 27:45.0.
Freshman Jack Ardrey (Milford, Conn.) and junior John Sanborn (Chichester, N.H.) were 19th and 20th, respectively, clocking times of 27:52.0 and 27:57.5.
Freshman Pedro Pereira (Danbury, Conn.) turned in a time of 28:43.0, while seniors Gregory Keilig (Moravia, Iowa) and Rafy Castillo (Danli, Honduras) wrapped up their respective runs at 32:52.9 and 35:25.7.
Notes:
- McLaren's time is a personal best and the fourth-fastest eight-kilometer time in program history. He now owns 10 of the top-20 8K times in the history of Southern New Hampshire University men's cross country.
- McLaren also won the Vermont Tech Invitational last Saturday.
- The race consisted of 65 student-athletes from six institutions

The Penmen are back in action next Saturday (Oct. 7) when they take part in the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Dorchester, Mass.
