Junior Kylie Lorenzen (Holliston, Mass.) notched a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds Saturday, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team rolled to a 54-44 victory against the University of New Haven on its 13th annual Pink Day.

Lorenzen shot 7 of 13 from the field, including 1 of 2 from beyond the arc, and 2 of 4 from the line, while handing out a pair of assists. Senior Jennifer Shelp (Apalachin, N.Y.) dropped in a season-high 14 points (7-10 FG), including 12 before halftime.

Alexandria Kerr led the Chargers with 21 points and nine rebounds.

After falling behind, 6-2, in the opening half of the first stanza, Southern New Hampshire closed the quarter on an 11-3 run – with seven points from Lorenzen – to take a 13-9 lead.

SNHU picked up where it left off in the second quarter, opening with a 17-4 barrage – with eight points from Shelp and five from junior Brianna Camara (Fall River, Mass.) – to seize a commanding 30-13 advantage with 2:54 remaining before the break. A layup from junior Aaliyah Paxton (Hainesport, N.J.) on the final Penmen possession of the half would send them to the intermission with their largest lead of the contest at 34-15.

The margin was still 19 with under two minutes remaining in the third quarter when Kerr capped the frame with seven straight to trim the New Haven deficit to 44-32.

Kerr made it nine-in-a-row with a layup to begin the final quarter and make it a 10-point game. The gap was nine with less than six minutes to play in the contest when three straight from Lorenzen carried a 5-0 spurt that increased the SNHU advantage to 53-39 with 2:45 remaining. Kerr would net five of the game's final six points to bring the score to its final resting place.

Camara posted eight points (3-9 FG, 2-4 3-FG) and six rebounds, while Paxton contributed four points (2-3 FG) off the bench. Freshman Sarah Deyo (Attleboro, Mass.) grabbed seven rebounds, with senior Catherine Stinson (Lynn, Mass.) and sophomore Amanda Kelly (Bethpage, N.Y.) each collecting five. Freshman Gyanna Russell (E. Hampton, Conn.) chipped in three points (1-5 FG, 1-2 FT) and six boards.
