Junior Irem Bat (Istanbul, Turkey) registered a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team to a three-set blanking of Merrimack College on Tuesday night in the regular-season home finale at the Stan Spirou Field House. Set scores were 25-21, 22-9, 25-15.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS

• The double-double was the ninth of the season for Bat, who hit .286 and also added a pair of service aces and two blocks.
• Junior Amanda Costales (Wantagh, N.Y.) recorded nine kills on .316 hitting.
• Senior Priscila Castro (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) matched Costales' .316 hitting mark, while producing seven kills and seven digs.
• Senior Jessica Dillon (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) dished 29 assists and added an ace.
• Freshman Ramona Fontaine (Chelsea, Mass.) chimed in with five kills.
• Junior Baylee Lippincott (Phoenix, Ariz.) tallied four kills, two aces, seven digs and three blocks.
• Senior Shaira Sanabria (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) collected nine digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The opening set was tied, 18-18, when a 7-3 run, including a set-clinching kill from Costales, put Southern New Hampshire up, 1-0, in the match.
• The Penmen scored the first six points of the second set and built a 13-5 lead when they ripped off seven straight – with Bat recording three kills – to make it 20-5. The teams traded points to run the score to 24-9 when a service error from Merrimack put the hosts in front, 2-0.
• Set No. 3 was even at 11-all when the Penmen ripped off eight-in-a-row as part of an 11-1 rush that made it 22-12. After the Warriors notched three of the next four, kills from freshman Brooke Freckleton (Red Cliffs, Australia) and Bat clinched the match.

• SNHU outhit Merrimack in all three sets, as well as .290-.053 for the match.

NOTES

• Southern New Hampshire snaps a three-match skid and has now won eight of 12.
• The Penmen move into a three-way tie for sixth place in the Northeast-10 standings with two matches to go.
