Junior Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) fired a 3-under 69 to sit atop the leaderboard at the Penmen Spring Invitational on Saturday, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team finished in a first-place tie after the opening round at Beaver Meadow Golf Course.

Fresh off his fourth medalist performance of the season nine days ago, Paradis is two shots ahead of Roberts Wesleyan College's Brandon Grzywacz and American International College's Robert Libiszewski, who each shot 71.

Sophomores Ryan Anderson (Beverly, Mass.) and Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.) each carded a 73 to tie for fifth, while classmate Jacob Rosen (Johnston, R.I.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with a 76, which tied him for 14^th.

Junior Sam Riemer (Canton, Mass.) did not factor into the scoring with an 81.

Playing as individuals, senior Joshua LaCasse (Bow, N.H.), freshman Jacob Cole (Hillsborough, N.H.), senior Ben Scott (Lexington, Mass.), juniors Tyler Silver (Lebanon, N.H.) and Etienne Bourgoin (Abington, Mass.), sophomore Jeremy Duhamel (Manchester, N.H.), and junior Tyler Cole (Bow, N.H.) shot 73 (T5), 77 (T19), 78 (T23), 79 (T31), 80 (T34), 81 (T37) and 81 (T37), respectively.

Notes:
- Roberts Wesleyan is tied with SNHU for first with a 3-over 291, which is nine strokes better than Franklin Pierce University.
- Paradis is in a four-way tie for the most birdies in the tournament with five, thus far. LaCasse is right behind with four.
- The Penmen Spring Invitational is comprised of 50 student-athletes from eight institutions.
