Men's Golf Claims Top Seed in East Region; Collects Eighth NCAA Regional Nod

NCAA RELEASE | NCAA ATLANTIC/EAST REGIONAL CENTRAL

INDIANAPOLIS – The Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team received the East Region's No. 1 seed and earned its eighth NCAA Regional nod Friday when the NCAA announced the field of 80 teams and 32 student-athletes competing as individuals that were selected to participate in regional competition that will be conducted May 7-9.

The Penmen, who will be making their fifth straight appearance, are seeded first in the Atlantic/East Regional that will tee off at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W.Va. – one of four regional sites. The Mountain East Conference will serve as the host of the Atlantic/East Regional.

At minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 21-26 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals, Fighting Joe Course in Muscle Shoals, Ala. The remaining eight team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's head-to-head medal play portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region capped at seven. The finals will be hosted by the University of North Alabama.

The Penmen have captured three tournament titles this season and submitted two more top-three finishes.  SNHU's best showing at the Atlantic/East Regional came in 2016 when it finished second and advanced to the NCAA National Championship for the first time in school history, submitting the highest finish for a team from New England since 2004 with a 16th-place performance.
