Score: No. 2 Merrimack College 21, Southern New Hampshire University 9
Records: SNHU 3-6 (1-5 Northeast-10 Conference), Merrimack 8-1 (5-1 Northeast-10 Conference)

Senior Zach Tanner (Woburn, Mass.) tallied a goal and two assists, but second-ranked Merrimack College scored nine of the game's first 10 goals Saturday en route to a 21-9 victory over the Southern New Hampshire University men's lacrosse team at Penmen Stadium.

Tanner led the SNHU attack with three points and senior Corey Cairo (Shoreham, N.Y.) scored a pair of goals, while seniors Khyan Gaddy(Albany, N.Y.) and Chris West (Albany, N.Y.) joined junior Tom Schutz (Trumbull, Conn.) and Cole Jacobsen (Dartmouth, Mass.) with a goal and an assist apiece.

Sean Black registered a game-high eight points for the Warriors on four goals and four assists, and Jack Trask tallied a hat trick to extend Merrimack's winning streak to four games.

The visitors wasted little time in building a significant advantage, as they scored six times in the opening stanza. Merrimack opened the contest with a three-goal burst over the first 8:07 on goals from Charlie Bertrand, Trask and Hunter Schmell. The Penmen answered with 6:27 to go in the first when Cairo cashed in a feed from West to trim the Southern New Hampshire deficit to a pair at 3-1. The Warriors responded with another three-score run with two of Black's markers sandwiched around a Trask tally.

The run extended into the second with another three Merrimack goals before the Penmen answered with two of the next three scores. Junior Joseph Mayernik (Pearl River, N.Y.) deposited his eighth of the season with help from Tanner on the man advantage with 7:49 to go in the half. Just over two minutes later, Gaddy found the back of the cage to bring Southern New Hampshire back within seven.

The Warriors tacked on a pair of goals late in the second quarter before Kyle Stenberg opened the second-half scoring 1:54 into the third. West halted the run with 12:55 to go with his sixth, and after back-to-back Merrimack goals, Cairo and Tanner went back-to-back at 9:01 and 7:01. After the visitors scored the next five goals of the contest, Southern New Hampshire registered the final three to provide the final margin of scoring.

Notes:
- The Penmen were outshot, 45-26, and were at a 34-15 disadvantage in shots on goal. The Warriors also maintained a 24-10 edge in groundballs, and secured 23-of-32 faceoffs.

- The Penmen converted on 2-of-7 man-up opportunities and 5-of-8 clears, while the Warriors had four EMO goals on 11 tries and were perfect on eight clear attempts.
