Senior Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) fired a 1-over 73 Monday, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team opened its season by placing ninth after the first round of the Glade Springs Intercollegiate Championship at The Resort at Glade Springs – home of this season's NCAA National Championship. 

INDIVIDUAL SCORERS 

• Paradis is tied for seventh – just five shots off the pace – following the first 18 holes.
• Freshman Brennan Hughes (Bedford, N.H.) carded a 3-over 75 and is tied for 18^th after playing in his first collegiate tournament.
• Freshman Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass.) shot a 6-over 78 in his first round of golf with the Penmen, leaving him tied for 44^th.
• Junior Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with an 86.

NOTES 

• Senior Etienne Bourgoin (Abington, Mass.) did not factor into the scoring with his 87.
• Paradis collected a team-best four birdies, with Conti right behind with three.
• Arkansas Tech University is leading the way after the first round with a 3-over 291, which is three strokes better than Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
• Arkansas Tech's Shawn Tsai is the individual leader with a 4-under 68 – one shot in front of Southeastern Oklahoma's Hayden Foster.
• The Glade Springs Intercollegiate Championship is comprised of 117 student-athletes from 23 institutions.
