Freshman Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass.) matched his second round score with a 75 Tuesday to lead the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team a seventh-place finish at the Glade Springs Intercollegiate Championship at The Resort at Glade Springs – home of this season's NCAA National Championship.
INDIVIDUAL SCORERS
- Conti, who was playing in his first collegiate tournament, carded matching 75s in the final two rounds after shooting a 78 over the opening 18 Monday. He finished tied for 16th with a 228.
- Classmate Brennan Hughes (Bedford, N.H.), who opened his first collegiate tournament with a 75, enjoyed his second best round Tuesday with a 78, which left him at 235 over the 54 holes.
- Junior Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.) also turned in his second best score of the tourney by matching Hughes' 78. He rebounded from an opening-round 86 to total a 240.
- Senior Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.), after penciling in a 73 and a 70 in his first two rounds, ran into trouble on a couple of holes and carded a 79 Tuesday to finish in sixth place with a 6-over 222.
NOTES
- Senior Etienne Bourgoin (Abington, Mass.) did not factor into the scoring, but submitted his best round with a 79 that gave him a 246 for the tournament.
- Despite his trouble, Paradis still managed to lead the team with three birdies in the final round.
- Arkansas Tech University captured the tournament with an 878, which was nine strokes better than Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
- Arkansas Tech's Shawn Tsai earned individual medalist honors with a 4-under 212 – three shots in front of Southeastern Oklahoma's Zach James.
- The Glade Springs Intercollegiate Championship was comprised of 117 student-athletes from 23 institutions.
