MANSFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team was chosen as the Northeast-10 Rookie of the Year, while head coach Greg Coache earned Coach of the Year accolades, to highlight six Penmen that took home All-Conference accolades Wednesday.
Hubickova, who also made the All-Conference Second Team at No. 1 singles and earned an All-Rookie Team nod, finished her first season with the Penmen 9-2, overall, including 8-2 against conference foes. The three-time NE10 Player of the Week (Sept. 24, Oct. 1, Oct. 8) and three-time Rookie of the Week (Sept. 24, Oct. 1, Oct. 8) is the fifth Rookie of the Year for the Penmen and second straight, joining sophomore teammate Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico).
Coache, in his 13th season, was tabbed the league's top coach for the 10th time, including the fifth time on the women's side, where he earns the honor for the first time since 2014. Coache has guided the Penmen to an 11-1 record, including their first NE10 Regular-Season Championship since 2012-13 after finishing 9-1. Southern New Hampshire currently owns a nine-match winning streak and has matched its best start since 2015.
Freshman Isabella Andrade (Cochabamba, Bolivia) garnered NE10 All-Conference First Team honors at No. 5 singles and also joined Hubickova on the All-Rookie Team. In her first season with the Penmen, Andrade finished a perfect 12-0, including an unblemished 10-0 in league play.
Sophomore Elizabeth Dwyer (Cutchogue, N.Y.) was also a First Team selection at No. 6 singles after going 11-1, including 9-1 in NE10 action.
Freshman Selin Seyfettinoglu (Wiesbaden, Germany) earned an All-Rookie nod with her 7-5 mark, including 5-5 in the conference, where she played primarily at No. 2 singles.
In doubles, Hubickova and Etienne, the Oct. 15 NE10 Player of the Week, teamed up for First Team honors at No. 1, while Andrade and Dwyer collected No. 3 First Team accolades. Hubickova and Etienne were a near-perfect 11-1, including 9-1 in the league, while Andrade and Dwyer were unbeaten at 10-0, as well as 9-0 in the NE10.
The second-seeded Penmen are back in action Friday, Oct. 25 (1 p.m.) when they play host to third-seeded Stonehill College in a Northeast-10 Championship semifinal match at the Penmen Stadium Tennis Courts.
