BOX SCORE | HIGHLIGHTS | RAPID REACTION: HEAD COACH JULIE MUNSON

When and Where: October 26, 2019 – Manchester, N.H. (Larkin Field)
Score: No. 9 Southern New Hampshire University 3, No. 7 Assumption College 1
Records: SNHU 13-3 (10-2 Northeast-10), Assumption 13-3 (9-3 Northeast-10)

Junior Hélène Servais (Brussels, Belgium) registered three points and graduate student Melanie Rennie (Madison, Conn.) stopped nine shots to lead No. 9 Southern New Hampshire University to its seventh consecutive win on Saturday, a 3-1 victory over No. 7 Assumption College in Northeast-10 Conference action at Larkin Field.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS

  • Servais set a new program record for points in a season with her 12th goal of the season less than a minute into the contest before adding an assist in the second half. She now has 33 points, which eclipses the previous program best of 30.
  • Rennie steered aside a season-high nine shots and posted at least two saves in every quarter.
  • Sophomore Emily Campbell (Raynham, Mass.) handed out a pair of assists, while senior Laura van der Doorn (Beverwijk, The Netherlands) and freshman Lisa Hagel (Driehuis, The Netherlands) each scored once.

KEY MOMENT

  • Servais set the tone early when she uncorked a reverse stick shot from the top of the circle that snuck just inside the far post at 54 seconds to put the Penmen in front for good.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • van der Doorn notched what proved to be the game winner four minutes into the second quarter when she punched home a rebound on the doorstep for her 13th goal of the season.
  • Hagel put the game away with 7:59 remaining in the third when she converted a feed from Servais off a penalty corner entry by Campbell to make it 3-0.
  • Jennifer Beardsley provided the final margin of scoring when she cleaned up a rebound off her own initial shot with 3:45 left in regulation.
  • The Greyhounds held an 18-11 edge in shots, which included a slight 10-9 advantage in shots on goal.
  • SNHU worked five penalty corners, of which four came in the opening 30 minutes. The lone Penmen corner of the second half resulted in Hagel's 11th of the year. Assumption drew nine second-half penalty corners and 11 for the duration of the contest.
  • Kylie Gargiulo was saddled with the loss after stopping three of the six shots she faced in the first 40:28. Kathleen Smiley closed out the final quarter-plus with two saves.

NOTES

  • Southern New Hampshire's seventh-straight victory sets a new program record for consecutive wins. The Penmen had previously set and tied the school benchmark of six twice this season.
  • The win pushes SNHU into a tie for second place in the Northeast-10 with Adelphi University. The Penmen and Panthers are both one game back of Saint Anselm College, who sits atop the league at 11-1. Adelphi takes on American International College Saturday at 5 p.m., and a win would slot Southern New Hampshire into sole possession of third in the conference.
  • Servais has more than doubled her career point total this season. She entered the 2019 campaign with 31 points to her credit, and after totaling 33 points through 16 games thus far, she now has 64 in her career.
  • van der Doorn tied Cassidy Huckins '19 single-season goal scoring mark with her second-quarter marker. van der Doorn joins Huckins and Servais as the only Penmen field hockey student-athletes to reach 30 points in a season, and her 84 career points are 20 ahead of Servais for the highest total in program history.
  • Hagel's goal gives her 25 points on 11 goals and three assists. She now has sole possession of the freshman goals and points record in school history.

WHAT'S NEXT

  • Southern New Hampshire heads to American International on Tuesday in an NE10 contest slated to begin at 7 p.m.
