Junior Gyanna Russell (E. Hampton, Conn.) and freshman Adriana Timberlake (Braintree, Mass.) each scored a game-high 14 points to lead five scorers in double figures, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team cruised to a 91-50 victory against the College of Staten Island on Sunday afternoon in its home opener at the Stan Spirou Field House.

KEY MOMENT
  • SNHU held a 24-16 advantage with less than 20 seconds to go in the opening quarter when Murphy canned a 3-pointer to set off a 21-3 barrage - led by seven points from Timberlake - that opened up a 45-19 lead with 1:49 to go before the break.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Jada Rogers (4-9 FG, 4-4 FT) and Kristina Arvelo (4-13 FG, 3-9 3-FG) led the Dolphins with 12 and 11 points, respectively. 
  • The Penmen outshot the Dolphins, 57.4 percent (39-68) to 29 percent (18-62), including 47.1 percent (8-17) to 24 percent (6-25) from beyond the arc.
  • SNHU was also better from the line, 83.3 percent (5-6) to 66.7 percent (8-12).
  • The Penmen won the glass (43-29, dominated the paint (54-16), gathered more points off turnovers (32-10) and second chance points (17-11), and featured a better assist-to-turnover ratio (23/17-9/21).
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire has now won three straight.
  • This was the first ever meeting between the two teams.
  • The 91 points are the most in a game for the Penmen since Jan. 6 of last season when they toppled Queens (N.Y.) College, 92-76.
  • Combined with the 83 points in Wednesday's win against American International College, it is the first time SNHU had back to back games in which they posted back-to-back 80- and 90-point games since Jan. 27-31, 1990 when they scored 98 and 108 in consecutive contests.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Penmen are back in action Wednesday, Nov. 20 (5 p.m.) when they take on Queens (N.Y.).
  • The next home game for SNHU is Tuesday, Nov. 26 (5:30 p.m.) when it plays host to crosstown-rival Saint Anselm College at the Stan Spirou Field House. The game will air live on WGIR 610-AM.
