Senior Laura van der Doorn (Beverwijk, The Netherlands) collected her 14th goal of the season and the ninth-ranked Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team closed out the most successful regular season in program history with a 2-0 blanking of Franklin Pierce University.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS

  • van der Doorn's second-half marker pulled her into a tie for the Northeast-10 Conference goal scoring lead and extended her program single-season goal-scoring record.
  • Freshman Lisa Hagel (Driehuis, The Netherlands) potted what proved to be the game-winner 1:43 into the first quarter.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • The Penmen defense held the Ravens without a shot on goal, and the offensive contingent generated an 18-3 edge in total shots. SNHU put a dozen shots on cage, of which Olivia Barnes stopped 10.
  • Southern New Hampshire worked 11 penalty corners and surrendered just two.
  • Junior Hélène Servais (Brussels, Belgium) handed out her league-leading 11th assist of the season on van der Doorn's third-quarter marker.

NOTES

  • Servais finishes the regular season atop the NE10 in scoring with 35 points on 12 goals and 11 assists. The point and assist totals are the highest single-season mark in school history and rank among the top-10 nationally.
  • van der Doorn enters the post season third in the conference in scoring with 32 points.
  • Hagel leads all freshman in the Northeast-10 in goals (13) and points (29), and ranks fourth and fifth in the conference in each category overall.
  • Southern New Hampshire eclipsed its previous program record for wins in a season of 10, which was set a season ago. The Penmen also generated a new conference victory benchmark with a dozen, which topped the 2018 total of eight.
  • SNHU honored eight graduating student-athletes who partook in their final regular season game on Larkin Field. Along with Servais and van der Doorn, Alison Hildreth (Hampton, N.H.), Isabel Hoyt (Boscawen, N.H.), Marissa Leger (Holliston, Mass.), Mary Lou Long (Foxboro, Mass.), Emily Skelley (Wolfeboro, N.H.) and Melanie Rennie (Madison, Conn.) were celebrated in a pregame ceremony.

WHAT'S NEXT

  • After finishing the regular season in third place, the Penmen have earned their first-ever home playoff game on Tuesday. Third-seeded Southern New Hampshire will play host to No. 6 Bentley University in the Northeast-10 Championship Quarterfinals on Tuesday (November 5) at 4 p.m. on Larkin Field.
