MANCHESTER, N.H. - Junior Micah Hewitson (New Market, Md.) will be back for a second try when the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships are held on Saturday (Nov. 23).  The competition is taking place in Sacramento, California, at Arcade Creek Cross Country Course (at Haggin Oaks). California State University, Sacramento and the Sacramento Sports Commission will serve as hosts. The women's race will begin at 1 p.m. Eastern, followed by the men's race at 2:15 p.m. Eastern.

Hewitson punched his ticket to the race as an individual qualifier with his fifth-place overall finish at the East Regional on November 9.  His time of 32.01 for the 10k was the fastest by an SNHU runner this season.  Only two-time National Championship qualifier Nacho Hernando-Angulo has run faster 10k's for the Penmen.

NOTES
  • Hewitson and the SNHU Men's Cross Country team received an at-large bid to the Championships last year.  The race was held in Pittsburgh, Pa.  This season, SNHU finished in sixth place at the Regional even though all seven runners ran PR's for the 10k race held in Philadelphia.
  • Stonehill College and American International College will represent the Northeast-10 Conference in the men's race this year after earning automatic bids.
  • The SNHU Women's Cross Country team will compete at the NCAA Championships for the first time after earning an automatic bid by finishing third at the NCAA Division II East Regional on November 9
