NORTHEAST-10 RELEASE
MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team was an almost-unanimous choice to earn a four-peat this season, as it was picked first in the Northeast-10 Coaches' Poll that was released Wednesday.
The Penmen earned eight of a possible nine first-place votes and 96 total points to place ahead of Merrimack College, which garnered one first-place nod and 85 points, after losing to SNHU in last year's title match. Le Moyne College slotted third with 79 points, while Bentley University (one first-place vote) and Franklin Pierce University tied for fourth with 72 points. Adelphi University (60), Stonehill College (58), Assumption College (43), Saint Anselm College (35) and Saint Michael's College (30) rounded out the poll.
Southern New Hampshire, led by 10th-year head coach Greg Coache, is currently 3-1, overall, and 1-0 in league play, and is riding a 36-match NE10 winning streak that dates back to Oct. 15, 2015. SNHU is coming off a season in which it went 16-7, overall, and 9-0 in the league, en route to capturing its third straight NE10 title and advancing to its seventh NCAA Tournament, where it came away with the program's first NCAA postseason win.
The Penmen return to action Monday, March 11 (2 p.m.) when they take on Flagler University.
