Sophomore Stephen Dubois (Goffstown, N.H.) and freshman Pat Quinn (Billerica, Mass.) each scored goals, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's lacrosse team suffered a 9-2 loss against in-state rival Franklin Pierce University on Friday night at Penmen Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Franklin Pierce scored the game's first three goals, including two from Mike Alibrandi, to take a 3-0 lead into the second quarter.
  • After Dubois opened the second-quarter scoring just 53 seconds in, Alibrandi led another three-goal run for the Ravens that opened a 6-1 lead with 4:37 to go before the break. Quinn put another goal on the board for the Penmen less than a minute later to trim their halftime deficit to 6-2.
  • Franklin Pierce potted the only goal of the third quarter, finding the back of the net with 25 seconds left to bring a 7-2 advantage to the final frame.
  • The Ravens added two more in the fourth quarter and kept the Penmen off the board to seal it.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Sophomore Neal Murray (Marblehead, Mass.) stopped 11 of the 20 shots he faced, while Justin Lorenzo turned aside 12 of 14 for FPU.
  • Senior Andrew Liu (Piedmont, Calif.) was 10-for-14 at the faceoff X.
  • Franklin Pierce outshot Southern New Hampshire, 42-25, including 25-12 in the opening half.
  • The teams were a combined 0-for-3 on man-up opportunities.
