Senior Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) fired a 2-under 70 at the opening round of the Penmen Spring Invitational on Friday, tying for first, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team tied for second, overall, at Beaver Meadow Golf Club.

INDIVIDUALS

• Paradis is in a five-way tie at the top of the leaderboard – one shot up on another pack of five golfers.
• Junior Ryan Anderson (Beverly, Mass.) and freshman Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass.) both shot a 1-over 73 to tie for 13^th.
• Junior Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with a 74 that has him in a tie for 17^th.

NOTES

• Junior Drew Kane (Scarborough, Maine), who did not factor into the team score, totaled a 77.
• Freshman Brennan Hughes (Bedford, N.H.), senior Etienne Bourgoin (Abington, Mass.), juniors Jeremy Duhamel (Manchester, N.H.) and Jacob Rosen (Johnston, R.I.), and sophomore Jacob Cole (Hillsborough, N.H.) all played as individuals, carding a 75, 76, 78, 81 and 86, respectively.
• Franklin Pierce University is in first place with a 289, which is one strike in front of SNHU and St. Thomas Aquinas College.
• Paradis matched STAC's Jake Yarmolowitz with a round-high five birdies.
• The Penmen Spring Invitational is comprised of 68 student-athletes from 11 institutions.
