Junior Drew Kane (Scarborough, Maine) registered an even-par 72 at the second round of the NCAA National Championships on Tuesday, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team improved upon Monday's opening round by 11 strokes and moved up to 16th through the first 36 holes at The Resort at Glade Springs.
INDIVIDUALS
- Kane, who was the fourth and final scorer for SNHU with a 77 in the first round, is now tied for 64th, overall, with a 149.
- Senior Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) and junior Ryan Anderson (Beverly, Mass.), who both led the Penmen with a 75 on Monday, each carded a 73 in round No. 2 and are tied for 52nd with a 148.
- Freshman Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with a 74 and is now tied for 70th with a two-round total of 150.
NOTES
- Junior Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.), who did not factor into the team score, bettered Monday's 80 by four shots to record a 76. He is at 156 through 36 holes.
- Barry University registered the top round of the day with a 272 and moved into first place with a 566, after ending the first round tied for eighth. Barry leads Lynn University by three strokes.
- Lincoln Memorial University's Sam Broadhurst is atop the individual leaderboard with a 6-under 138, which is one stroke better than Colorado Christan University's Chase Carlson and Grand Valley State University's Alex Scott.
- The Penmen are making their second appearance at the NCAA National Championships and first since 2016.
- The NCAA National Championships are comprised of 108 student-athletes from 28 institutions.
