Senior Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) fired a 5-under 67 at the opening round of the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional on Thursday to lead the field, while the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team is tied for second, overall, just two shots off the pace at Totteridge Golf Club.

INDIVIDUALS

• Paradis leads the field by four strokes after knocking in a round-high eight birdies.
• Junior Drew Kane (Scarborough, Maine) is tied for 17^th, overall, after shooting a 3-over 75.
• Freshman Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass.) is right behind with a 76 that has him tied for 21^st.
• Juniors Ryan Anderson (Beverly, Mass.) and Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.) both carded an 80, with one of the scores dropped from the team score.

NOTES

• Wilmington (Del.) University is in first place with a 296, which is just two strokes in front of SNHU and Franklin Pierce University.
• Paradis is four shots in front of Shepherd University's Owen Elliott and Franklin Pierce's Nathan Patterson, who are tied for second with a 1-under 71.
• Paradis drained eight birdies in the opening round – three more than the next closest competitor.
• The NCAA Atlantic/East Regional is comprised of 107 student-athletes from 26 institutions.
