Junior Gyanna Russell (E. Hampton, Conn.) scored a team-best 12 points, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team returned from the holiday break and was defeated by Stonehill College, 68-51, Sunday afternoon at the Stan Spirou Field House.

KEY MOMENTS
- Stonehill opened the second half with a 30-27 edge, but outscored SNHU, 20-4, in the third quarter, to balloon its lead to the largest of the contest at 50-31 going to the final frame. Grace Carter and Madison Seymour led the way with five points each, while the Skyhawks held the Penmen without a point over the final 5:55 of the stanza.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Gabrielle Reuter led all scorers for Stonehill with 18 points (7-9 FG, 4-4 FT).
- The Skyhawks outshot the Penmen, 38.1 percent (24-63) to 28.8 percent (17-59), including 22.2 percent (4-18) to 12.5 percent (3-24) from deep.
- SNHU was better from the stripe, 87.5 percent (14-16) to 80 percent (16-20).
- The Penmen won the paint (26-24) and narrowly gathered more second chance points (12-10), while the Skyhawks owned the glass (49-34), collected more points off turnovers (15-7) and featured a better assist-to-turnover ratio (14/15-4/17).
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has now dropped two straight.
- Stonehill, which leads the all-time series, 44-13, has now won 13 of the last 15 meetings with SNHU.
