Sophomore Tristan Pietz (Dudley, Mass.) tallied three goals and four other players had two goals apiece, but SNHU fell to Molloy College 13-11 on Saturday.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- In addition to his three goals, Pietz added two assists and had four ground balls.
- Freshman Tim Krutz (Cheshire, Conn.) scored his first two career goals and had an assist.
- Junior Stephen Dubois (Goffstown, N.H.) also had two goals and an assist.
KEY MOMENTS
- The teams exchanged goals in the first quarter, which ended at 3-3.
- SNHU took its first lead at 11:07 of the second quarter on a goal by Quinn.
- Pietz scored his third goal of the game with 48 seconds remaining in the first half to tie the contest at 7-7.
- The Penmen chased, but could not get past the Lions in the second half. Krutz picked up his first career goal to even the score at 10-10 with 14:41 to play.
- After Molloy scored three more goals, Krutz made it 13-11 with 1:59 left.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Sophomore Chris Valentine (Derry, N.H.) and sophomore Pat Quinn (Billerica, Mass.) each had a pair of goals.
- The Penmen outshot Molloy, 44-36, over the duration of the contest. The Lions had a 15-11 advantage on saves.
- SNHU won 20 of the 28 faceoffs, and won the ground ball battle, 35-30.
- The Penmen were whistled for three minutes worth of penalties on four infractions while Molloy was not penalized.
- Molloy's Jack Egan scored five goals, including four in the first half.
NOTES
- Junior Cole Jacobsen (Dartmouth, Mass.) had two assists, and extended his personal point streak to 12 games, which dates back April 28, 2018.
- It was the third career hat trick for Pietz, who had a big game against Molloy last season (four goals, one assist).
