MANSFIELD, Mass. - Graduate student Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was named Northeast-10 Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, and sophomore Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) was named Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week by the league on Tuesday.
SNHU Cross Country ran last Friday at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University. The team finished 34th, overall, with Corcoran and gradudate student Jill Couto (Newton Junction, N.H.) running two of the five fastest 6k races in program history. Corcoran had the fastest run of the day for SNHU with a 21:57.9, which ranks as the fourth fastest in program history. Couto finished a little more than a second behind Corcoran at 21:59.0, the fifth-fastest 6k for an SNHU runner and a personal best. Seamans turned in a career-best at 22:37.3, which ranks among the top 20 performances all-time by a Penmen.
Up next for the Penmen is the NEICAAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. The women will compete at 12:15 p.m. with a men's race at 1:00 p.m.
