SNHU Graduate Student Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) matched the second fastest 5k in school history, finishing 21st overall and helping lead 30th-ranked SNHU to a 12th place finish Saturday at the NEICAAA Cross Country Championships at Franklin Park in Boston.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- Corcoran had the fastest run of the day for SNHU with a 18:20.4.
- Graduate student Jill Couto just missed her PR with an 18:49.3, good for 44th place. Couto's run ranks as the 11th fastest in program history.
- Also scoring for the Penmen were sophomore Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.), junior Sarah Zarakotas (Deerfield, N.H.), and sophomore Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.).
NOTES
- SNHU, ranked as the top team in the region, and 30th in the nation by the USTFCCCA, finished just behind regional and conference rivals AIC and Stonehill.
- Seamans (19:23.2), Zarakotas (19:26.2), and O'Rourke (19:30.3) also established or set PR's in the race.
- The fastest 5k for SNHU came at UMass-Dartmouth in 2010 by Emma Lundberg. Corcoran has two of the four fastest races for SNHU, and Couto has three of the top 15 fastest 5k runs.
