#30 SNHU Women Run 12th At NECIAAA Meet Saturday

Corcoran Matches Second Fastest 5k in Program History

SNHU Graduate Student Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) matched the second fastest 5k in school history, finishing 21st overall and helping lead 30th-ranked SNHU to a 12th place finish Saturday at the NEICAAA Cross Country Championships at Franklin Park in Boston.

TOP PERFORMANCES
  • Corcoran had the fastest run of the day for SNHU with a 18:20.4. 
  • Graduate student Jill Couto just missed her PR with an 18:49.3, good for 44th place.  Couto's run ranks as the 11th fastest in program history.
  • Also scoring for the Penmen were sophomore Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.), junior Sarah Zarakotas (Deerfield, N.H.), and sophomore Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.).
NOTES
  • SNHU, ranked as the top team in the region, and 30th in the nation by the USTFCCCA, finished just behind regional and conference rivals AIC and Stonehill.  
  • Seamans (19:23.2), Zarakotas (19:26.2), and O'Rourke (19:30.3) also established or set PR's in the race.
  • The fastest 5k for SNHU came at UMass-Dartmouth in 2010 by Emma Lundberg.  Corcoran has two of the four fastest races for SNHU, and Couto has three of the top 15 fastest 5k runs.
