#19 Saint Anselm Pulls Away Late To Beat Men's Lacrosse 17-10

Senior Stephen Dubois (Goffstown, N.H.) scored four goals and freshman Jack Terrones (Anaheim, Calif.) tallied three goals and an assist, but #19 Saint Anselm College pulled away late for a 17-10 win over SNHU in a Northeast-10 men's lacrosse contest Wednesday night at Penmen Stadium.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Dubois - 4 goals
  • Terrones - 3 goals, 1 assist
  • Senior Oscar Kozikowski (Portsmouth, N.H.) - 16 saves
  • Junior Jeremy Handman (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) and sophomore Gennaro Marra (Hampstead, N.H.) each scored goals for the first time this season.
KEY MOMENTS
  • Marra scored the only goal of the first quarter for the Penmen, who trailed the Hawks 5-1 after the game's 15 minutes. 
  • SNHU would surge to within 8-6 by halftime.  Dubois and Terrones each had man-up goals, and Dubois scored another with just three seconds left in the half.
  • Jack Andrews and Matt Ward combined to score nine goals for Saint Anselm. 
  • The game was the first of the season for the Hawks, who pulled away by outscoring the Penmen 7-2 over the final 21-and-a-half minutes of the contest.  
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Southern New Hampshire was outshot by Saint Anselm 48-34.  SNHU had 27 turnovers compared to 15 for the Hawks.
  • Marra had another terrific game, winning 18 of 28 face-offs.
  • The Penmen converted four-of-six man-up opportunities.  
NOTES
  • This was the first of three scheduled meetings between the teams during the regular season.  The teams meet again on April 7 at Saint Anselm.
  • The Hawks have won four straight against the Penmen, and lead the all-time series 20-12.
  • Through two games, Dubois leads SNHU with nine goals.  Terrones is next with six.

  • The Penmen head to Saint Michael's College on Saturday for a 12:00 p.m. contest.
