(Manchester, N.H.) - Senior Chloe Griffin (Scarborough, Maine) tossed a complete game and singled in the winning run in SNHU's 3-2 victory at #16 Saint Anselm Saturday to earn a split of an NE10 doubleheader.

KEY MOMENTS - GAME 1
  • The Penmen would become the first team to score against Saint Anselm ace Morgan Perry in the opener, when senior Emily Critch (Halifax, Mass.) homered in the second for a 1-0 lead.
  • Perry (6-0) earned the win, allowing four hits.  She did not walk a batter and struck out 14.
  • The Hawks would score all they would need on a Bre Klaiber's two-run shot off losing pitcher senior Olivia Strasser (Rutland, Mass.) in the bottom of the third.
  • SNHU freshman Alyssa Dimauro (Chester, N.H.) went 2-for-3 in the game.
KEY MOMENTS - GAME 2
  • Griffin opened the game with a double down the left-field line, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on an error.
  • SNHU had a 2-0 lead in the second after Critch reached on an error, eventually scoring on a wild pitch.
  • The Hawks drew even in the bottom of the frame on a two-run homer by Gracie O'Hara.
  • The Penmen scored the winning run in the top of the fourth.  Senior Jackie Gavin (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and sophomore Bryn Garczynski (Norwood, Mass.) started the frame with singles.  Junior Brittany Mota (Lowell, Mass.) successfully bunted them up and senior Coralie Mathieu (Methuen, Mass.) was hit-by-a-pitch.  Griffin stroked a single through the right-side in what proved to be the game-winner.   She finished the game 3-for-4.
  • Griffin (2-1) went the distance in the circle.  She allowed five hits, walked five, and struck out three.
NOTES

  • The win for the Penmen was the first since April 9, 2018.  SNHU leads the all-time series with its cross-town rival, 46-42.
  • The home run in the first game by Critch was the first by a Penmen this season - it was the 13th of her career.
  • Griffin leads the NE10 with a .476 batting average with 10 hits in 21 at bats.
UP NEXT
