Penmen Blow Past Saint Michael's In Men's Lacrosse Wednesday

(Hooksett, N.H.) - Junior Chris Valentine (Derry, N.H.), freshman Jack Terrones (Anaheim, Calif.), and sophomore Tim Krutz (Cheshire, Conn.) combined to score eight goals as SNHU topped Saint Michael's College 11-3 on Wednesday at Penmen Stadium.

KEY MOMENTS
  • The Penmen dominated the contest throughout, opening a 4-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.   Terrones scored twice in the period and Isabella's goal at 5:22 was the first of his career.
  • Freshman Cody Fleming (Plaistow, N.H.) scored his first career goal in the second quarter, as the Penmen extended the lead to 7-2 at halftime.  Two of Valentine goals came late in the period for SNHU. 
  • Valentine's fourth goal at 4:38 was the only marker of the third period for the Penmen, but the Purple Knights only scored once in the third quarter.
  • Krutz opened the fourth quarter with a goal off a perfect pass from Isabella, and added another with 2:37 to play.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The teams were taken off the field for about 45 minutes with 5:55 to play when a thunderstorm rolled through the area.  
  • SNHU had a 47-35 edge on shots taken, and 58-47 on ground balls.
NOTES
  • Valentine now has three games with four goals this season.
  • Valentine, Terrones, and senior Stephen Dubois (Goffstown, N.H.) are in a three-way tie for the team lead with 19 goals apiece.
  • SNHU and Saint Michael's split the season series.  The Penmen dropped a 17-14 decision when the teams in Vermont on March 27.

  • Southern New Hampshire will conclude the regular season on Saturday, April 24 at 3:00 p.m. against #11 Saint Anselm College.
