(Waltham, Mass.) - The Penmen rallied for a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat Bentley 7-6 and earn a split of Saturday's NE10 doubleheader. Senior Chloe Griffin (Scarborough, Maine) went the distance for her seventh win.
KEY MOMENTS - GAME 1
- The Penmen fell behind 3-0, and despite a late rally lost the opener 5-3.
- Senior Emily Critch (Halifax, Mass.) led off the top of the fourth inning with a double. Senior Jackie Gavin (East Bridgewater, Mass.) ripped a single, scoring pinch-runner freshman Ari Ferrier (Middleboro, Mass.).
- Freshman Alyssa Dimauro (Chester, N.H.) tripled and scored on a groundout by Griffin in the top of the seventh.
KEY MOMENTS - GAME 2
- SNHU scored five times in the top of the first inning of the nightcap. Senior Shea Sauvageau (Griswold, Conn.) knocked in the first run with a sacrifice fly, grad student Coralie Mathieu (Methuen, Mass.) had a two-run double, and junior Brittany Mota (Lowell, Mass.) drove in two runs with a single.
- Bentley scored the game's next six runs, including a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 6-5 lead.Â
- In the decisive final frame, Garczynski led off with a single, and Dimauro reached on an error. Griffin bunted the runners into scoring position. A sacrifice fly by freshman Shannon Gifford (Goffstown, N.H.) tied the game, and Dimauro scored on a wild pitch.
- Griffin, who went the distance in the circle, worked around a hit-by-pitch and a single in the bottom of the seventh inning to record the final out.
NOTES
- Dimauro had three hits in the opener and another in the nightcap to lead the team with four hits on the day.
- Gavin has hits in five straight games, and 12 of her last 13 starts.
- Mota picked up her first two RBI of the season with her first-inning hit in the second game.

- SNHU and Bentley will meet again in a doubleheader Sunday that has been moved to the SNHU Softball Field. The first game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. Â
