Men's Lacrosse Advances In Playoffs With 19-9 Win Over AIC

(Hooksett, N.H.) - Graduate student David Wiedenfeld (Londonderry, N.H.) scored seven goals and assisted on two others as sixth-seeded SNHU toppled American International College 19-9 in the first round of the NE10 Championship Wednesday at Penmen Stadium.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Terrones opened the scoring less than five minutes into the contest as SNHU scored the game's first five goals and led 6-1 after one period.  Terrones and Wiedenfeld each scored twice in the first quarter.
  • Senior Stephen Dubois (Goffstown, N.H.) and freshman Cody Fleming (Plaistow, N.H.) also scored in the first for the Penmen.
  • Wiedenfeld and Terrones each scored a pair of goals for SNHU in the second period as the Penmen opened a 10-3 lead at the break.  Terrones scored the season's first man-down goal.
  • The Penmen had a 15-6 lead after three quarters as Wiedenfeld added three more goals in the third period.
  • Valentine scored his four goals over a 12-minute span covering the middle of the third period and the start of the fourth.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Southern New Hampshire outshot American International College 54-32.
  • The Penmen won 26 of the game's 32 faceoffs with Marra again leading the way.
  • SNHU had a 71-46 edge on ground balls, led by Marra, Terrones, and freshman Cam Cote (Saco, Maine), who scored his second goal of the season with 6:49 to play.
NOTES
  • The Penmen topped the Yellow Jackets for the second time this season and now lead the all-time series 20-2.
  • SNHU is competing in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament for the first time since 2017.  The post-season win was the first for the program since a quarterfinal win over Pace in 2016.
