#7 Adelphi Tops Men's Lacrosse 12-9 In Northeast-10 Quarterfinals

(Garden City, N.Y.) - The Southern New Hampshire University Men's Lacrosse team saw its season come to an end on Saturday with a 12-9 loss at #7 Adelphi in the Northeast-10 Quarterfinals. The Penmen finish the season with a 6-6 record.

KEY MOMENTS
  • The Penmen opened the scoring on a goal by junior Jeremy Handman (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) and kept the game close throughout the first half.
  • Valentine's first goal of the game, at 6:34 of the second period, cut the Adelphi lead to 5-3 at halftime.
  • The Panthers extended the lead to 9-3 by outscoring SNHU 4-0 in the third quarter.
  • The Penmen outscored Adelphi 6-3 in the fourth quarter, scoring the game's final three goals.  Terrones, senior Stephen Dubois (Goffstown, N.H.), and freshman Cody Fleming (Plaistow, N.H.) rallied SNHU to within three goals with 1:23 to play. 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Gordon Purdie Jr. was the top scorer for the Panthers, with four goals and two assists.
  • Adelphi outshot Southern New Hampshire, 51-41.
  • SNHU had 23 turnovers and Adelphi had 21.  The Panthers had a 43-37 edge on groundballs.
  • Adelphi went a perfect 3-for-3 in man-up situations.  The Penmen were 1-for-5.
NOTES
  • Adelphi extended its perfect streak against SNHU to 11 games.  Both AU losses in 2021 have come to top-ranked Le Moyne, who they will meet in one of Wednesday's NE10 semifinals.
