(Manchester, N.H.) - The Southern New Hampshire University softball team saw its season end in the Northeast-10 Divisional Semifinals on Thursday. The Penmen fell 8-0 to #18 Saint Anselm College.
KEY MOMENTSÂ
- The Penmen managed only one hit off the NE10's Northeast Division Pitcher of the Year, Morgan Perry. Sophomore Bryn Garczynski (Norwood, Mass.) delivered a two-out single to left field in the top of the sixth inning. She was the only SNHU player to reach base.
- The Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on RBI singles by Gracie O'Hara and Abbie Murrell.
- Two more runs in the third inning - and three more in the fourth gave Saint Anselm a 7-0 lead. Â
- Lauren Washburn, who went 4-for-4, made it 7-0 with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth. Her fourth hit, a single, ended the game with a run in the bottom of the sixth.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Senior Olivia Strasser (Rutland, Mass.) and senior Chloe Griffin (Scarborough, Maine) split time in the circle for the Penmen. Strasser (5-8) allowed two runs in her 4.1 IP and had three strikeouts.
- Perry struck out seven in her complete game for the Hawks.
NOTES
- Strasser compiled 19 wins for the Penmen over four seasons, finishing with an ERA of 2.33. That ranks ninth best in program history. Â
- Senior Emily Critch (Halifax, Mass.) led SNHU with four home runs, finishing with 16 for her career. She drove in 61 runs over 135 games.
- SNHU leads the all-time series with Saint Anselm 46-45. The Hawks won four of the five meetings between the teams this season.
