NEW ORLEANS, La. - Post-season honors continue to come in for SNHU Women's Cross Country with the announcement by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) that graduate student Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) has been named East Region Athlete of the Year. Head Coach Rich Marcello was tabbed Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.
Earlier this week, Corcoran was named the Northeast-10 Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year and Marcello was named NE10 Coach of the Year.
Corcoran won the individual title at the East Region Championships in 21:55.4. She picked up four wins this fall, including victories at the Northeast-10 Championships as well as the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, among others.
Marcello, in his first year as head coach at Southern New Hampshire, led the Penmen to the team title at the East Region Championships with 52 points. SNHU also won the team title at the Northeast-10 Cross Country Championships with 39 points, Adelphi Festival Year Short Course Invite with 28 points and Shacklette Invitational with 17 points.
Up next for the Penmen will be the NCAA Women's Cross Country Championships at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Washington on Friday, December 2.
