SNHU Finishes Second For Program Best Finish at NE10 Indoor Championships

Corcoran Named Track Athlete and MVP of the Meet Held in Boston

Results  - 2nd of 11 (122 points)
(Boston, Mass.) - The SNHU Women's Track & Field team turned in its best-ever performance at the NE10 Indoor Championships in Boston with a second-place finish.  Gradutate student Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was named track athlete of the meet and MVP for recording the highest point total.  

DAY 2 HIGHLIGHTS
  • Corcoran earned her third and fourth wins of the Championships by finishing first in both the 3k and mile. 
  • Corcoran went 4:57.04 in the mile and her final time in the 3k was 10:12.31.
  • Senior Bennie Alula (Hartford, Conn.) finished second in the shot put with an 11.13m.  Sophomore Laila Bunnitt (Lewiston, Maine) wound up in sixth place.
  • In the high jump, junior Madison McMahon (East Longmeadow, Mass.) jumped 1.63m to finish in second place, setting a new program record.  Sophomore Sydney Eccleston (Swanzey, N.H.) finished in sixth place.
  • Sophomore Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) finished third in the race in the 3k race, and junior Sarah Zarakotas (Deerfield, N.H.) would up in sixth place.  
  • Sophomore Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.) wound up fifth in the mile run with a PR of 5:12.73.
  • Senior Meghan Stroh (New Fairfield, Conn.) scored points for the team by finishing 8th in the 60m, 5th in the 200m, and 3rd in the 400m.
  • Sophomore Hannah Bradbury (Seekonk, Mass.) turned in a sixth place finish in the 800m.
  • The Penmen ran to a fifth place finish in the 4x4, and a sixth place finish in the 4x8 relays.
  • The 4x4 relay team was sophomore Ava Gravell (Windham, N.H.), graduate student Olivia Coco (Bedford, N.H.), Eccleston, and Stroh.
  • Bradbury, sophomore Riley McDermott (Kennebunkport, Maine), sophomore Sabrina Hanock (Derby, Conn.), and O'Rourke.
NOTES
  • The Penmen took the lead into Friday's second day of competition.  American International won the women's competition with 132 points.  The Penmen finished ahead of Franklin Pierce (77_ and Stonehill (73).  So. Connecticut State (67) edged out Adelphi (66) for fifth place.
  • The Southern Connecticut State men's team edged American International for the title.
UP NEXT
  • The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held in Pittsburg, Kansas March 11-12.   Invitations will be extended to athletes after events this weekend.
