NO. ATTLEBORO, Mass. — Redshirt-freshman Piper Knowlton (Chester, N.H.) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team was crowned the NE10 Rookie of the Year, as one of five Penmen to collect All-Conference honors when the league office announced its end-of-the-year accolades Tuesday.
Knowlton is the fifth Penmen to receive the award for the NE10's top rookie and the first since Kristin Wilder in 2016.
Knowlton, who also claimed a spot on the NE10 All-Conference Second Team and NE10 All-Rookie Team, notched 60 points on 41 goals and 19 assists, as she played in all 16 games and made 15 starts. She also scooped up 15 ground balls, won eight draw controls and caused six turnovers. The three-time NE10 Rookie of the Week (March 2, March 9, March 16) ranked eighth in the NE10 in goals, points, goals per game (2.56) and points per game (3.75), as well as 14th in assists and assists per game (1.19).
Sophomore Corrina Moulton (Barre, Vt.) joined Knowlton on the Second Team. The two-time NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week (March 9, March 16) started 13 of the 15 games she played in, stopping 152 of the 327 shots she faced over 756:37 for a .465 save percentage and 13.88 goals-against average (GAA). Moulton placed second in the conference in save percentage and saves per game (10.13), as well as third in total saves, seventh in minutes and ninth in ground balls per game (2.20). Her 152 saves place her fifth in SNHU's single-season record book.
Senior Delaney Ramalho (Hollis, N.H.) landed a spot on the NE10 Third Team. The defender, who was one of three Penmen to start all 16 contests, collected 30 ground balls and caused 21 turnovers. She tied for 10th in the league in caused turnovers per game (1.31) and for 16th in ground balls per game (1.88).
Freshman Abby Bouffard (Biddeford, Maine) joined Ramalho on the Third Team and was also an All-Rookie Team selection. She started all 16 contests and tallied 14 goals, five assists, 84 draw controls, 19 ground balls and eight caused turnovers. She ranked fourth in the NE10 in draw controls and draw controls per contest (5.25). Bouffard's 84 draw controls are the seventh most in a single season at SNHU.
Freshman Madi Barrett (Peabody, Mass.) also started all 16 games and received an All-Rookie nod. She recorded 25 ground balls, 11 draw controls and seven caused turnovers, while contributing one goal, offensively.
The Penmen finished 6-10 overall and 3-6 in the NE10 to claim the No. 7 seed. They lost to second-seeded Pace University in the quarterfinal round, as they earned an NE10 Championship berth for the sixth-consecutive season.
