SNHU Honors Seniors At Penmen Relays, Wins Meet

Athletes From 15 Schools Compete at Penmen Stadium

When and Where: April 16, 2022-- Hooksett, N.H.  (Penmen Stadium)
Results  - 1st of 15 (173 points)
(Hooksett, N.H.) - The Women's Track & Field team saluted its seniors, and won the 2022 Penmen Relays on Saturday.
 

HONOREES (SNHU SENIORS AND GRADUATE STUDENTS)
SNHU HIGHLIGHTS
  • Sophomore Ava Gravell (Windham, N.H). finished second in the 100m with a new SNHU program record time of 12.42.
  • Stroh set personal marks finishing third in the 100m (12.50) and second in the 200m (25.37), also a program record.
  • Couto won the 800m in 2:16.44.   Sophomore Hannah Bradbury (Seekonk, Mass.) set a PR in the race at 2:22.78, finishing fourth.  
  • Sophomore Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.) won the mile with a new PR (5:11.73) - she also set a new PR in the 800m (2:27.02).
  • Sophomore Sabrina Hanock (Derby, Conn.) took second place in the 5000m (19:27.27) in her first attempt at the race.
  • Sophomore Emma Hallet (Billerica, Mass.) ran a new career best, finishing 2nd in the 100H at 15.71.
  • Sophomore Sydney Eccleston (Swanzey, N.H.) finished third in the 400H in 1:11.97, a new PR.  She also set a new PR in the 100m race (13.74).
  • Sophomore Riley McDermott (Kennebunkport, Maine) tried the 3000 Steeplechase for the second time, and set a PR in 11:38.09, finishing second.
  • The Penmen had a strong run, winning the 4x400 relay with Gravell, Couto, Coco, and Stroh running the race in 4:02.56.
  • Hallet and junior Madison McMahon (East Longmeadow, Mass.) finished 1-2 in the high jump.  Hallet set a PR with 1.65m, a new program record.
  • Graduate student Tatyanna Beckford (Orange, N.J.) competed in three events, setting a new PR in the shot put (11.27m) while finishing fourth.  
  • Sophomore Laila Bunnitt (Lewiston, Maine) won the discus throw at 39.89m, and finished eighth in the hammer throw at 42.53m- both were new career marks for her.
WOMEN
  • SNHU, the top ranked team in the East Region in the last UTSCCCA poll, won the event with 173 points to Franklin University's 94 points.
  • Nyjah Young-Bey of the Ravens won the 100m and 200m races.
MEN
  • Franklin Pierce won the team competition 118-116 over Eastern Connecticut State.  Plymouth State finished third with 102 points.  
  • SNHU does not have a men's track & field team, but cross country team graduate Jacob Logan won the 5,000m in 15:37.36, running unattached.  The time was a personal best.
  • A Penmen Stadium record was set in the pole vault by USM's Ben Drummey (4.50m).
UP NEXT
  • SNHU will compete at the George Davis Invitational at UMass-Lowell next Saturday.
