SNHU Captures Spring Invitational

Outdoor Season starts at Penmen Stadium

When and Where: April 2, 2022-- Hooksett, N.H.  (Penmen Stadium)
Results  - 1st of 7 (246 points)
(Hooksett, N.H.) - The Women's Track & Field team opened the outdoor portion of the schedule with a win at the SNHU Spring Invitational on Saturday at Penmen Stadium.
 

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Graduate student Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) won the 3000m steeplechase in 10:38.61, a new program and Penmen Stadium record.
  • Sophomore Ava Gravell (Windham, N.H.) won the 100m and 200m runs with new personal bests.   Her time was 12.78 seconds in the 100, and 26.55 in the 200.
  • Graduate student Jill Couto (Newton Junction, N.H.) took the 800m race in 2:18.61.
  • Sophomore Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) ran a new personal best, winning the 5000m race in 18:07.00.  
  • Sophomore Laila Bunnitt (Lewiston, Maine) won the discus event with a throw of 36.17m (118'8"), a new personal best.  
  • Sophomore Sydney Eccleston (Swanzey, N.H.) ran a new PR in the 400H in 1:12.99, finishing in second place.
  • Senior Meghan Stroh (New Fairfield, Conn.) finished second in the 400m, and was part of both winning relay teams.
NOTES
  • Competing unattached, SNHU alum Ashley Elder won the shot put event with a 12.62m throw (41'5").  
  • NE10 rival Stonehill finished second at the Spring Invitational with Franklin Pierce University in third.
  • Franklin Pierce won the men's meet over Stonehill.
  • Two Penmen Stadium records were set on the day.  In addition to Corcoran's run in the steeplechase,  Sam Weeks, an assistant coach at Merrimack College, set a mark of 54.71m winning the discus.  Weeks had set the previous discus mark at Penmen Stadium in 2019.  
UP NEXT
  • SNHU will participate at the Wildcat Invitational next Saturday, April 9 at UNH.  The Penmen Relays (Senior Day) are scheduled for Saturday, April 16.
