Penmen Run 1-2 in 1500m Run at UNH Meet

Corcoran-Couto Lead Penmen Saturday

When and Where: April 9, 2022-- UNH Wildcat Invitational 2--Durham, N.H.  (Wildcat Stadium)  
Results  - NTS
(Durham N.H.) - The Women's Track & Field competed at the Wildcat Invitational in Durham, N.H. on Saturday.  Graduate student Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and graduate student Jill Couto completed a 1-2 finish in the 1500m run.  All five Penmen who competed in the race ran personal best times for the event.

1500M RUN:
  • Corcoran won the event with a time of 4:39.44.  Her time was the fastest in the NCAA Div. II East Region so far this season.
  • Couto was next at 4:42.26.  Her time was the third fastest in the NCAA Div. II East Region.
  • Sophomore Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.) ran the 1500 in 4:44.53, and finished fourth.
  • Sophomore Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) ran 4:49.60, finishing sixth.
  • Junior Sarah Zarakotas (Deerfield, N.H.) was next 4:51.33.
NOTES:
  • Sophomore Emma Hallet (Billerica, Mass.) ran ninth in the 100m hurdles in 16.65 seconds, tops on the squad, a new PR for her.  She also set a PR in the long jump with 4.99m.
  • Junior Madison McMahon (East Longmeadow, Mass.) won the high jump at 1.62m, just off her personal best of 1.63m.
  • Sophomore Ava Gravell (Windham, N.H.) set a new PR on her first try in the long jump.
  • Senior Bennie Alula (Hartford, Conn.) finished third in the hammer throw with a new PR of 43.77m, eclipsing the 41.06m mark she set at Penmen Stadium last week.
  • Junior JT Gulick (Norwalk, Conn.) ran in the men's 1500m race, coming in ninth place in 4:17.57.

  • SNHU will host The Penmen Relays (Senior Day) next Saturday, April 16.
