Penmen Take Lead After First Scored Events at NE10 Championships

Corcoran Leads 1-2-3 Finish in 1500m

Results Through Day 1:  1st of 11 (68 points)
(North Easton, Mass.) - Graduate student Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) led a 1-2-3 finish for the Penmen in the 1500m event, and SNHU has taken an early lead after seven scored events at the Northeast-10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
 

SNHU HIGHLIGHTS
  • Corcoran won the race in 4:34.66, a new program record for the distance.  
  • Sophomore Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.) and graduate student Jill Couto (Newton Junction, N.H.) both ran PR's to finish second and third.  O'Rourke ran 4:38.95, and Couto 4:42.04.
  • Junior Sarah Zarakotas (Deerfield, N.H.) set a new program record for the 10000m with a 38:58.94, good for fifth place.  She finished just ahead of teammate sophomore Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.), who ran 39:03.01.  Graduate student Maura Coakley (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) finished eighth in 39:47.33.
  • SNHU finished 6th in the 4x800 meter relay.
  • The highest finish in the throws was turned in by sophomore Tori Limone (Stoneham, Mass.), who finished second in the javelin at 35.64m. Graduate student Tatyanna Beckford (Orange, N.J.) finished sixth in the event, with freshman Morgan Cooledge (Westbrook, Maine) adding a team point by finishing eighth.
  • In the hammer throw, sophomore Laila Bunnitt (Lewiston, Maine) set a new PR at 43.01m, finishing in fourth place.  Senior Bennie Alula (Hartford, Conn.) was fifth at 42.29m.
  • Junior Madison McMahon (East Longmeadow, Mass.) finished sixth in the long jump (5.35m), a personal best.
  • Sophomore Ava Gravell (Billerica, Mass.) finished seventh in the pole vault and eighth in the long jump on Friday.  Her pole vault of 2.61m wsa a new PR.
