The Southern New Hampshire women's cross country team finished 3rd of 38 teams competing Saturday at UMass Dartmouth, billed as the largest on-campus cross country meet in New England. Graduate student Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) finished second overall among 284 runners competing.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- Corcoran ran the 5k in a new PR of 17:56.58, finishing second in the race to Lauren Selkin of Mount Holyoke, who raced the course in 17:49.26.
- Corcoran's run was the fastest in program history - the first time an SNHU runner has eclipsed 18 minutes. Emma Lundberg ran 18:16 at the UMass Dartmouth meet in 2010.
- All seven SNHU runners set or established new marks for the distance. The top five performers all ran marks which ranked in the top-20 all-time for the SNHU program.
- Junior Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.) clocked in at 18:42.42, finishing 26th, and second among the SNHU runners.
- Junior Hannah Bradbury (Seekonk, Mass.) was 28th overall at 18:48.16.
- Not far behind O'Rourke were both senior Sarah Zarakotas (Deerfield, N.H.) with 18:52.03 (31st) and junior Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) with 18:53.67 (34th).
NOTES
- This was the 49th annual running of the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
- UMass Lowell finished in first place with 54 points. Stonehill College was next with 120 points, just one point ahead of SNHU, the top Div. II school at the meet.
