The Penmen won a third consecutive Shacklette Invitational at Saint Anselm College on Saturday, defeating NE10 rivals Saint Anselm College and Saint Michael's College. The Penmen were led by graduate student Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.), who also had won the meet in 2019 and 2021.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- SNHU runners finished in six of the top seven positions with Corcoran winning the 6k race in 24:14.9.
- Junior Hannah Bradbury (Seekonk, Mass.) and junior Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) hit the line together, running second and third at 24:48.3 and 24:49.0
- Senior Sarah Zarakotas (Deerfield, N.H.) ran fifth- 24:59.0
- In her first race with SNHU, graduate student Rose Pitman (Sherill, N.Y.) finished up in 25:07.7.
- Junior Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.) clocked in at 25:30.7 in seventh place overall
NOTES
- This was the 40th running of the event which started in 1982.
- The Penmen are ranked as the top team in the region in the pre-season rankings by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) for the second consecutive season.
- SNHU Head Cross Country Coach Rich Marcello led the team to victory in the first race since joining the program in February.
