The Southern New Hampshire women's cross country team finished 4th Friday at the Bruce Kirsh Cup at the Hopkinton, N.H. Fairgrounds. Senior Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) was the top runner for the Penmen, and one of three to earn an award with a top-15 finish.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- Seamans turned in a time of 19:02.66, finishing sixth overall.
- Senior Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.) ran a 19:44.51, good for tenth place.
- Sophomore Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) ran 13th overall in 20:01.95.
- Senior Riley McDermott (Kennebunkport, Maine) finished up in 28th place in 20:58.86.
- Freshman Katie Kraft (Londonderry, N.H.) was next across in 29th in 21:02.74.
NOTES
- Kraft, along with fellow first-year runners Reese Stevens (Agawam, Mass.) and Deirdre Bailat (Billerica, Mass.), each ran a new best in their third tries at the distance.
- Finishing ahead of the Penmen in the team scoring were Div. I Merrimack College (40), Saint Michael's College (52), and Adelphi (68). Host Franklin Pierce University was fifth (172).
- Individual winner Ava Mahoney of Merrimack set a new course record for 5k at 17:55.64.
- The 2023 NCAA East Region Championships will be held on this course.
- SNHU runners hold two of the Hopkinton Fairgrounds Course Records. Nacho Hernando, a 2023 Hall of Fame Inductee, holds the men's 5k record, set in 2015. Laura O'Hanlon ran the 4k course record that same year.
