Kelsey Seamans Finishes Fourth To Lead Penmen

Women's Cross Country finished fourth at the NE10 Cross Country Championship at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass. on Sunday.  Senior Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) led the Penmen with a fourth-place finish with a new personal best.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Seamans ran the 6k course in 22:27.3 and by finishing fourth, earns First-Team All-Conference.
  • Sophomore Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) finished 13th, just ahead of teammate senior Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.).
  • Obernesser ran a new best of 23:09.3 and O'Rourke crossed in 23:20.2, earning Second-Team All-Conference.
  • Fourth in for the Penmen, finishing 29th overall, was senior Hannah Bradbury (Seekonk, Mass.) in 24:37.5.
  • Freshman Deirdre Bailat (Billerica, Mass.) finished up in 24:52.10 earning points for the Penmen.
NOTES
  • The Penmen were the defending champs, winning the first NE10 Championship for the first time last season.
  • Seamans' run is tied for the 19th best in program history.  She finished fourth in the race for the second year in a row.
  • Southern Connecticut State (54) won the title over Adelphi (65), although the Panthers finished 1-2 in the race with Katherine and Isabel Marsh.
  • Tess Drury led Saint Michael's (86) to a third-place finish, just one point ahead of the Penmen. 
  • Saint Anselm (97) finished in fifth-place so the Penmen earn two Queen City Cup points by finishing ahead of the Hawks.
  • Also running the course for the Penmen Sunday were:
    Senior Riley McDermott  (Kennebunkport, Maine) 25:31.8, freshman Katie Kraft (Londonderry, N.H.) 25:39.5, Freshman Aveline McCabe (White Bear Lake, Minn.) 25:46.6, freshman Reese Stevens (Agawam, Mass.) 26:06.4, sophomore Emily Charest (Methuen, Mass.) 26:12.3, and sophomore Jia Anderson-Salo (Alstead, N.H.) 27:38.6.

  • The Penmen will race at the NCAA East Regional Championships on Saturday Nov. 4 at the Hopkinton (N.H.) Fairgrounds.
