Women's Cross Country Places 33rd at NCAA National Championships

Seamans Paces Penmen in Joplin, Missouri

When and Where: November 18, 2023 – Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course (Joplin, MO)
Results: Women's 6k – 33rd of 34 (1025 points)

Senior Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) led the Penmen Saturday as the 2023 season came to an end at the NCAA Division II National Championship in Joplin, Missouri.  SNHU finished in 33rd place among elite competition from across the nation.

RESULTS
  • Seamans finished in 190th with a time of 22:25.4, less than 10 seconds off her PR set at the NCAA East Regional Championship two weeks ago.
  • Senior Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.) ran a 23:17.7 and finished 233rd.  
  • Sophomore Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) ran a 23:32.0 and finished 238th.
  • Senior Hannah Bradbury (Seekonk, Mass.) wound up 246th with a 23:57.6.
  • Freshman Deirdre Bailat (Billerica, Mass.) was 247th with a 24:03.3.
  • Senior Riley McDermott (Kennebunkport, Maine) ran a 25:07.7 and finished 254th.
  • Freshman Aveline McCabe (White Bear Lake, Minn.) was next in 225th at 25:12.2.
NOTES
  • The Southern New Hampshire women's cross country team has qualified for the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships for the third time in the last four seasons, and second consecutive season.

  • The Penmen were an automatic qualifier by finishing as one of the top three teams at the NCAA East Regional on November 4 at the Hopkinton Fair Grounds.
  • Senior Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.), senior Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.), senior Hannah Bradbury (Seekonk, Mass.), and sophomore Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) all ran in the 2022 NCAA Championship race in University Place, Wash.   
  • Lindsay Cunningham of Winona State won the women's 6k race with a time of 19:30.1.   
  • Grand Valley State was the team champion (59) finishing ahead of Adams State (86) and the Colorado School of Mines (121).
  • Among teams from the East Region, Southern Connecticut State finished 30th and Roberts Wesleyan University was 32nd.
