Women's Cross Country Headed Back To NCAA National Championship

Penmen Finish 3rd at East Regional - Earn Third Trip To Nationals

When and Where: November 4, 2023 – Hopkinton, N.H. (NCAA East Regional)
Results: Women's 6k  -  3rd of 15 (109)

SNHU Women's Cross Country will head to the Division II National Championships for the third time in four seasons after finishing in third place at Saturday's NCAA East Regional in Hopkinton, N.H.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Senior Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) ran 22:16 to lead the Penmen, finishing eighth overall
  • Senior Kaitlyn O' Rourke (Braintree, Mass.) ran a 22:32.1 to finish 14th
  • Sophomore Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) had a 22:35.7 for 17th place
  • Freshman Deirdre Bailat (Billerica, Mass.) came in 33rd at 23:32.8.
  • Senior Hannah Bradbury (Seekonk, Mass.) finished 37th at 23:39.8
NOTES
  • The top three teams were Southern Connecticut State (58), Roberts Wesleyan (70), and the Penmen.
  • SNHU finished just four points ahead of fourth-place Adelphi. The Panthers were sparked by the Isabel and Katherine Marsh who finished first and second respectively.
  • Seamans, Obernesser and Bailat all ran new personal best times for the 6k. 
  • The run by Seamans was the 15th best time in program history.
  • Also competing for the Penmen were junior Riley McDermott (Kennebunkport, Maine) - 24:47.8, and freshman Aveline McCabe (White Bear Lake, Minn.) - 24:48.2.  McDermott and McCabe also set new PRs.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Penmen will compete at NCAA Women's Division II Cross Country Championship to be held on Sat. November 18 in Joplin, Missouri.
