WORCESTER, Mass. -  SNHU Cheer is in the final stages of preparing for the 2023 National Championships.
 
The following report was filed by freshman Alexis Chrissanthiss (Derry, N.H.):
 
"First time out on the mat for the Penmen. Worcester State University cheer hosted a college nationals send-off. The Penmen had a couple of little hiccups but were able to finish strong. Those errors will be fine-tuned this week during practices. Coaches were happy with a great start to the competition season. Athletes were excited to be out for the first time and enjoyed the experience. Overall, the Penmen had high energy and a good first performance. "
 
Southern New Hampshire will head to the National Cheer and Dance Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida, April 5-9.  The Penmen finished in third place in the Advanced All-Girl category among Div. II schools at the 2022 Championships, which were also held in Daytona Beach.
 
The Penmen will head to another competition at Assumption University next Sunday.  On Thursday, March 30, Cheer will welcome Friends and Family to a send-off at the Stan Spirou Field House on the SNHU campus.
